05.19.11 WINE DINNER next Wed!

With the weather heating up we find ourselves craving crisp and refreshing wines. At Market 17, we sample close to 100 wines a week and we've increasingly been impressed with the wines coming out of New Zealand, and not just sauvignon blanc! New Zealand is producing some of the most balanced and interesting chardonnays, rieslings, pinot gris, merlot, and pinot noirs we've been trying lately. And usually at great values which make them even more appealing!
  

Join us next Wednesday May 25th with guest of honor, Greg Hay, to explore some of the best New Zealand wines available. Chef Dan is making a great 5 course dinner paired with the wines of Mohua and Peregrine. Peregrine consistently wins some of the most prestigious awards for their pinot noir, which as many of you know Kirsta is a big fan of. So don't miss out  this great event where we'll be tasting and learning more about this beautiful and excitng wine region.

05.09.11 New Summer Season Hours. For the months of May thru October, Market 17 will be closed on Mondays.

4.19.11 Brunch! After years of working at one of S. Florida's best brunches, Chef Ramos is bring brunch to Market 17! For Easter Sunday and Mother's Day only (as of now), Market 17 will open at 10:30am to serve brunch! The menu is amazing and has all the traditional brunch favorites with a farm twist!

Also we just want to announce our hours for the slower summer season are changing. Beginning Monday, May 9th, we will be closed on Monday's and opening for dinner at 6pm, with the bar open for happy hour at 5pm. We will resume dinner 7 days a week in October.

 

01.23.11 3 Months open! Apologies for the length between updates. Fortunately, we've been busy, but unfortunately, this page hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. Every week gets busier and busier and now we are officially in season. We have had lots of press and great things to share that we'll link to below. Things have been fun and exciting since we opened 3 months ago, we've learned a lot, we've had a lot of very pleased guests and some really positive and constructive feedback. But we're still only 3 months old so the past 3 months has been a bit of a constant focus on tweaking and improving as we learn what works well and what could be better in the challenges of being a new restaurant that is trying to create amazing dining experiences for everyone. It's a fun ride and we have a great dedicated staff, so we are only more excited for what the future brings!

10.24.10 3 days open! Thanks so far to everyone that has come out to support us! We couldn't be happier with our staff and all the people that have been so encouraging so far. A big thank you to everyone that has helped us get to this point! We look forward to the famous Ft. Lauderdale boat show next week and seeing the restaurant grow busier and busier. Hope to see everyone soon!

10.07.10 We have an official opening date! Thursday October 21st! Mark your calendar. It's been a fun process getting here and we couldn't be more excited to open! We've hired a great staff and we're putting in the final touches and will be ready for business in 2 weeks! We will begin taking reservations on Monday Oct. 11th. (The open table link should be available on Monday if not sooner and of course you can always call). More menu options will be up on the website early next week. We look forward to having you dine with us!

09.10.10 We've had some minor delays that have unfortunately moved our opening back a little longer then anticipated. On the positive side the extra time has given us opportunities to visit a lot of farms and find key partners to bring you the best food possible. You can check out some of those highlights on our facebook page. At this point a lot of the progress is reliant on others. Inspections to sign off on, licences to get approved, etc. So at the moment, it's not easy to pin point an exact schedule. Please know we are doing everything in our power to get open by Mid October. We can't wait to be open for business! We will update the site and our mailing list as soon as we have our exact opening date.

Also just want to throw out a big thank you to everyone that has reached out to us in anticipation of our opening, we really appreciate the interest!

 

08.03.10 We're getting closer to open everyday! We are about two weeks out from being completed with the renovations. It's so exciting to think all these months of planning will finally be a reality and instead of looking at concrete and drywall, we'll look like a fun, lively, restaurant ready for business! But in the meanwhile, we want to share a couple of nice articless in the last couple of days:

07.24.10: We are in the home stretch and everything is coming along great. Next week we'll be trying to get all our contractors to meet our Aug 1st deadline. Wish us luck! Our goal is by the end of the first or second week of August, we'll be able to put everything together for the interior and we'll finally get to see what all these months of planning will look like! We can't wait. We'll post pictures as soon as they're available.
